So, according to the seriousness and the risk factor of your case, your lawyer will have a basic fee and a success fee. The success fee is a pre-determined percentage out of the basic fee. The even better piece of news is that these fees may be paid if not entirely, at least partially, by your opponent.

A word of caution though. There were cases in which people took the “no win no fee” term for granted and found themselves having to pay serious sums of money. Why? Because they didn’t know that in the undesirable event that they lose the case, they have to pay the opponent’s costs. So, keep this in mind before going on with the procedures.

Now, the choice of getting compensated solely with the help of your insurance company or with the help of a lawyer depends on a simple factor: the seriousness of the case. If you have sustained minor injuries, there’s no point in hiring a lawyer and you should go for your insurance company’s compensation. I mean, this is what a personal accident insurance is good for, right?
